Safe Piercing — The Right Way

Many piercing-related infections and complications result from non-sterile technique, inappropriate jewellery, or incorrect placement. At Sunny Derma, every piercing is performed to the highest clinical standard — using technique, tools, and materials we would apply to our own clinical procedures.

We never use piercing guns for cartilage — guns cause blunt trauma and significantly increase infection risk. All piercings use single-use sterile needles opened in front of you, disposed of immediately after.

Starter jewellery is implant-grade titanium (ASTM F136) or surgical steel — hypoallergenic, non-reactive, and the international clinical standard for new piercings. Never plated costume jewellery.

Not all ears, nostrils, navels or tongues are anatomically suited for every piercing. Our clinical team assesses suitability before proceeding — protecting you from complications and poor outcomes.

Every patient receives written and verbal aftercare instructions, a follow-up contact, and access to our team for any healing questions. We don't just pierce and send you home — we support your healing.

Ear Lobe Repair

Stretched, torn, or split earlobes caused by heavy earrings, trauma, or gauge plugs are surgically corrected under local anaesthesia. The procedure involves precise excision of the scar tissue, freshening of wound edges, and careful suture closure for the best possible cosmetic result. Available for one ear (40 min) or both ears (60 min).

Yes — our Kids Ear Procedure is specifically designed for young patients. Our clinical team are experienced with children, using child-friendly communication and a gentle, efficient approach. Parental consent and presence is required. We use implant-grade titanium flat-back labret starter jewellery — the safest option for children's healing.

We recommend using our clinical implant-grade starter jewellery for new piercings, as it has been sterilised and is specifically designed for the healing phase. After healing is complete (which varies by piercing type), you can change to your preferred jewellery. We are happy to advise on suitable materials for healed piercings.

Healing times vary: Earlobes — 6–8 weeks; Nose — 4–6 months; Cartilage (daith, rook, industrial) — 6–12 months; Navel — 6–12 months; Tongue — 4–6 weeks; Dermal anchor — 2–3 months. Proper aftercare significantly impacts healing time and outcome quality.

Yes — but only after complete healing, which takes approximately 3 months. Re-piercing through scar tissue is possible and our team will advise on the optimal placement to avoid the repaired scar tissue for the best long-term result.

Standard earlobe piercing (adult and children's) is available on a walk-in basis at all branches subject to availability. Cartilage piercings, dermal anchors, and tongue piercing are recommended as booked appointments to ensure adequate consultation time.
