Overview in Sharjah & UAQ
Even the most beautifully restored smile depends on healthy gums and clean teeth. Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in adults, and early-stage gum disease (gingivitis) is reversible with professional intervention. At Sunny Derma our hygiene and periodontal team provides everything from routine professional cleaning through to advanced periodontal therapy, gum contouring, and bad breath management.
For aesthetic patients, gum contouring (gingivectomy) can correct a “gummy smile” or uneven gum line — sometimes combined with Botox to the upper lip for comprehensive correction. We also address halitosis (bad breath) systematically — most cases have an identifiable cause that responds to targeted treatment.
Professional Scaling & Polishing
Removal of hardened tartar (calculus) and surface staining that home brushing cannot reach. Leaves teeth smooth, brighter, and significantly more resistant to re-accumulation.
Periodontal Treatment
For active gum disease — deep scaling, root planing, and antimicrobial therapy that arrests progression and allows healing. Saves teeth that would otherwise be lost.
Aesthetic Gum Contouring
Correction of gummy smile, uneven gum line, or asymmetric gum display. Often combined with Botox for comprehensive smile aesthetic correction.

Aftercare Recommendations
Mild Sensitivity for 24–48 Hours
After deep cleaning, some tooth and gum sensitivity is normal — particularly to cold. Resolves within 1–3 days. Sensitive toothpaste helps.
Soft Diet After Gum Surgery
After gum contouring or periodontal surgery, eat soft foods for 1–3 days. Avoid spicy, acidic, and very hot foods that can irritate healing tissue.
Use Prescribed Mouthwash
For periodontal patients, we typically prescribe a short course of chlorhexidine or essential oil mouthwash. Use as directed — completing the course matters.
Maintain 6-Month Cleaning Schedule
Tartar accumulates regardless of brushing technique. Every 6 months for routine maintenance; 3–4 months for periodontal patients during active management.
